In a time of pretenders, Myridian is contending for their spot on the music scene.  Just minutes from the Southern California Coast, in the idyllic valley that is Ojai (o-hi), Myridian emerged during 2003.

Comprised of five musicians, they are driven by the creative spirit of guitarist and principal songwriter, Richard Metcalfe.  Sophisticated arrangements and compelling messages reflect a culmination of their pop, rock and progressive influences.  The lyrics are passionate and the language poetic.  Classic chord structures combine with refreshing vocal harmonies for a distinct, radio-friendly feel.

Myridian has established a loyal local following, performing live throughout Southern California.  In 2006 the band took top honors in the Ventura County Battle of the Bands, a competition that included over sixty groups.  As a result, they were awarded a recording contract on the independent Euterpe Music Label, which produced the group’s first full-length album Prime Myridian (Official release date 24 February  2007).

Myridian’s original song, Gunshots, from the album Prime Myridian, has been awarded a top-ten place out of over 1,700 song submissions on Neil Young’s “Living With War Today” website. It addresses the confusion, chaos, and anger surrounding warfare of all types. Says Metcalfe, “Gunshots is not specifically aimed at the Middle-East situation; rather, it’s more of an examination of the reality of living with turmoil…be it international, inter-city, or even interpersonal.”  The song, submitted only in March 2007, has rocketed to the #10 position out of over 1700 submissions by independent musicians.

In addition to Richard Metcalfe, lead vocalist Kalvin Keller, drummer Patrick Duffy, keyboardist Scott Smith and bassist Sheila Johnson fill out the roster.

“Mind candy for the mortal soul”, “Original classic rock and roll”, or the one the band always loves to hear, “Wow, theses guys don’t suck!” are just some of the things being said about Myridian.  Listen and watch for Myridian.
